Last week, Dorian was barreling directly toward Jupiter with winds that eventually reached 185 MPH. (It’s always a bit unsettling when all the Hurricane spaghetti models are pointing right to your home town). Then 10-14 hours away from landfall it just stopped. Staying stationary for 24-hours, it pummeled areas of the Bahama Islands, leaving behind total devastation of quaint little islands that were the home to 10’s of thousands and vacation destinations to countless others.

CES’s Michael Knowles, a native Bahamian, was helping load pallets of supplies in Nassau airport yesterday, as cruise ships, church groups, doctors, supplies and emergency teams continue to converge on Grand Bahama Island, Marsh Harbour, the Abacos and surrounding areas – which seem thus far to have taken the brunt of the damage. Amidst the devastation, videos were forwarded showing heroism by locals who braved hurricane conditions to rescue others trapped in their homes and attics.
